Homework will begin with all students in the coming weeks! Students will be given two or more days to complete the Math Computation homework, so they might not have it every night. Multiplication Facts should be studied daily.
Homework is not intended to take over 30 minutes a day! If it is taking your child longer than 30 minutes to complete on a regular basis, please let me know so that adjustments may be made.
Occasionally, circumstances beyond a child's control will arise. Should this happen, please send in a note with your child and additional time to turn in the assignment will be granted. In most cases, students will be given two or more days to complete an assignment (as well as time in class), so this is a rare event. Multiplication Facts:
Students need to review the fact set that they are working on for 10 minutes each day. This can be done with an iPad, home computer, flashcards, or with a partner like we do at school (They'll be able to show you how!). THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT! THEY NEED TO WORK ON THIS EVERY NIGHT! Having their multiplication facts learned will make the math modules we are working on much easier for them.
Math Computation Work:
All students will be working on math computation skills. These skills are taught along with the Eureka math program (the backbone of our math instruction). Students may not have homework every night, as they are usually given 15 to 30 minutes a day to work on this. If your child has difficultly understanding a concept being taught, don't hesitate to send me a note letting me know so that I can provide additional instruction.
Directions and requirements for their homework assignments are listed in the Math Folder. Work will need to be completed almost daily. Please help your child by checking the practice section of each unit. With some of the units, students will be asked to do additional problems just to be sure of complete understanding. This math will not be the same for every student, as every student has different needs.
